LOS ANGELES (APRIL 25, 2026) – Photographer Jon Wollenhaupt’s image, The Bargain Hunters, has been selected by a prestigious panel of industry luminaries for inclusion in the 1st Annual Americana Photo Awards Best of Show Photobook. The selected image was entered into the category City Life and was shown during a prestigious Winners and Nominee Gala Ceremony streamed Saturday, April 25, 2026.
The live online gala was attended by industry leaders and the photography community from around the globe who logged on to watch the climax of the world’s premier event for Americana photography.
1st Annual Jury members included captains of the industry from Harvard Art Museums, Cambridge; ABC Entertainment, Los Angeles; Ilon Art Gallery, New York; The Art Channel, London; The Coca-Cola Company, Chicago; Spotify, Los Angeles; Calde63 Inc, Miami; The Dallas Morning News, Dallas; Texas Rangers, Arlington; The Ringling Art Museum, Sarasota; Paramount Brand Studio, New York who honored 150 coveted title awards and 119 nominees in 42 categories.
“It’s an incredible achievement to be selected among the best from the 1,684 entries from 29 countries we received this year” said Basil O’Brien, the awards Creative Director. “Wollenhaupt’s image, The Bargain Hunters, is an exceptional image that was entered in the City Life category and represents Americana photography at its finest. We are pleased to present him with this well-deserved award.

Wollenhaupt commented, “Many thanks to the esteemed panel of jurors who selected my work. It is very rewarding to have this recognition of my street photography work, which I have spent many years developing. The image selected is from the series Street Stories: San Francisco. This body of work focuses on the human element of city life that creates a dynamic and genuine relationship between the observer, the observed, and the environment.

Jon Wollenhaupt’s practice moves fluidly between photography, printmaking, and writing, bringing a layered and reflective approach to image-making.
His work has been exhibited and published across the United States and internationally, establishing a career rooted in both visual experimentation and conceptual inquiry.
Based in Sacramento, Wollenhaupt holds a fine art degree from Grossmont College and completed additional studio art studies at San Francisco State University.
